The anime adaptation of Rumiko Takahashi’s classic martial arts comedy manga Ranma ½’s first aired in Japan on April 15, 1989. To celebrate the anime’s 30th anniversary, fans on Twitter posted fanart, cosplay, and heartfelt messages.

One fan posted a video showing the voice actor cast 30 years ago. Many of the comments noted that Ranma ½ had an incredibly star-studded cast, including Kappei Yamaguchi as Ranma, Megumi Hayashibara as the female Ranma, the late Hiromi Tsuru as Ukyou, and Kikuko Inoue as Kasumi.

The Ranma ½ manga was serialized in the Weekly Shōnen Sunday magazine from September 1987 to March 1996. It has spawned several TV series, movies, and OVAs, and is regarded as a classic comedy series today. Rumiko Takahashi will launch her next manga this spring.
